Ceramic heaters warm the air by heating a ceramic element inside the unit and using a fan to either push or pull air over the hot element. Ceramic heaters are typically fairly portable units as they are lighter than other heating methods. They tend to offer a smaller set of features than fan heaters but the ceramic elements can usually manage to heat the air leaving the unit to a slightly higher temperature than the elements in fan heaters.

Fan heaters warm the air by heating an element inside the unit and using a fan to either push or pull air over the hot element. Fan heaters are typically fairly portable units as they are lighter than other heating methods. Be careful with your sizing for fan heaters. If you think you are close to the limit (click here for the heater sizing calculator), buy a second fan heater as they tend to be excellent when sized well but can very quickly displease when asked to do more than they are capable of.

Powered by electricity, oil filled radiators are an incredibly economical form of heater. The element inside the heater heats up the special thermal oil that is sealed inside the heater and never needs replacing. The oil then heats the "radiator fins" which heat the air. The thermal oil is as close as we have yet found to using your heating dollar more than once. Oil filled radiators typically take longer to start to heat the room, but once they start they offer fantastic results. They are designed for providing heat for periods between 1 and 24 hours a day.
